Maybe the Dingo Ate Your Baby: I’m Engaged!

I always swore to myself that when I got engaged, the first picture I would post of my ring on Facebook would look like this:

Whenever I saw a “So and so is now engaged to so and so” status on Facebook, I’d be like well isn’t that just great! Another one down. It can be really annoying to see people getting engaged on Facebook. I used to think so anyways, but then one day I was that person and I wanted to tell the world. I’m still refraining from including it in my professional email signature to clients. Saturday, January 12th, 2013 was the happiest day of my life.

“All right, let me be the first to say congratulations to you then. You get one vagina for the rest of your life. Real smart Frank. Way to work it through.” – Bernard, Old School

The response on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram was overwhelming. Thank you so much for all your lovely words.

The ring is perfect, he is perfect and I am so so so happy.

Brody got into town for a surprise visit last Tuesday and put a ring on it on Saturday. He left Sunday, but I must admit, diamonds ease the pain.

I can’t stop looking at my hand.

Have you seen my fiance?

Although I know I am about to become a slave to Wedding Magazine to browse ideas, I do already know which shoes I’m gonna wear down the aisle, the famous Carrie shoes that Big proposed with!

Drooooools.

There’s been many people I know well that have gotten engaged over the last 5 years, and in so many cases, I can’t imagine it lasting…

However, that’s not the case with you and Brody. Over the years, I’ve listened to you talk about him and had the pleasure of meeting him on a couple occasions and it’s pretty clear to me you two are genuinely a perfect couple!

    Congrats Val! Congrats Brody!

I was at a wedding where the bride and groom were on their cells during speeches. Created a bit of scene among their guests.

  • http://www.caseypalmer.com/ Casey E. Palmer

Of COURSE Val would outsource it — bring a blogger to capture all the events as they happen :P

But yes, if the bride and groom are ignoring “their own wedding”, I can see it as totally bad form.

Why the air-quotes? Married people know — the wedding day’s never for the people getting married ;)

Congrats Val (& Brody!)!!! Wooohoo! That’s definitely one thing they don’t tell you – you will not be able to stop staring at your finger!! :)

Congratulations (Best Wishes?) again Val and Brody. :-)
Casey, I was at a wedding this summer where you could clearly hear the cell phone of the Sikh groom vibrate within his Scottish Kilt Pouch during the ceremony (Pretty much only in Toronto could you have the Sikh wedding in the morning and the Scottish wedding in the evening.) Bride and groom couldn’t help but laugh, but at least he didn’t answer it until after the ceremony.
