Toronto Fashion: The Store on Queen

Last week I checked out The Store on Queen, which has now officially become one of my favorite places to shop in Toronto. This store has an amazing little story, literally of two girls from fashion backgrounds who met for coffee one day, discussed the possibility of opening a store and as they drove home saw a “For Lease” sign at 719 Queen West. Within two months, The Store on Queen was open to the public in May 2012.

I first became aware of the store because I followed them on Facebook. These girls, Valentina and Angela are incredible when it comes to posting daily pictures of their outfits and various items that can be found in the store. I found myself checking out their page everyday and finally decided it was time to go check it out for myself.

So glad I did. Valentina took it upon herself to help me style various different outfits.

I absolutely love stores like this because the items are hand-picked by the store owners and they don’t come in mass quantities like the types of items you’ll find at Aritzia or Mendocino. This means that pieces are unique and not everyone in Toronto will have them.

In addition to this, you’ll be hard pressed to find anything in the store that costs more than $100. It was the first time ever that I went into a store and bought every single thing I tried on (yes, bloggers buy stuff too). I took home nine items: a dress, a skirt, two shirts, a cardigan/blazer, a jumpsuit, a scarf and two belts. The grand total was under $500.

I totally recommend checking out The Store on Queen and definitely like them on Facebook. You will quickly get addicted.
