Downward Doggin’ In Dundas Square

Well this is nothing if not bizarre, weird and totally cool. The craziness that will be happening in preparation of and during the G20 summit will be calmed temporarily on June 21 in Dundas Square when hundreds of yogis will come together and practice the relaxing art of yoga. No joke.

Spynga, one of Toronto’s top yoga and spinning studios is hosting the first annual Elevate To Exhale event, which will be an all day celebration of “summer solstice”.

The day is inspired by New York City’s Mind Over Madness event that is held in Times Square. The concept is to inspire people living the crazy urban lifestyle to “seek calm within”. Here are some pictures from last year’s Mind Over Madness event in Times Square.

I actually have tried yoga and used to practice Bikram Yoga on a regular basis. (I have a good friend who is an instructor and she would wake my butt up at 8 am and drag me, but I was always glad I went). As the day will probably be a scorcher, this may be a hot yoga session. Now I am not a huge yoga person at all, but I do like it and I think that this is a pretty cool idea. I am going to be there and can’t wait to report!
